Clinical RCT with Lumoral

2.2× as many patients achieved healthy gums

HOPE-CP is a multicentre randomised controlled trial involving 200 adults with periodontitis receiving routine supportive periodontal care. Half were also assigned to use Lumoral daily at home.

After 3 and 6 months, the Lumoral group had less gum bleeding, less visible plaque and fewer sites with deeper periodontal pockets. After 6 months, 51% achieved healthy gums (BOP <10%), versus 23% with supportive periodontal care alone.

Lumoral was studied as an adjunct to brushing, interdental cleaning and professional periodontal care.
