In daily practice, the dentist may suddenly be confronted with medical emergencies. The patient believes that the dentist should be able to recognise this in time, offer first aid and start resuscitation if necessary. The dental literature speaks more and more about simulation training in medical emergencies: the patient with heart disease, anaphylactic shock, asthma attack, cerebral infarction or stroke … There is more and more emphasis on the prevention of cardiac arrest by a systematic approach of the acutely ill patient through the ABCDE-protocol (Airway, Breathing, Circulation, Disability, Exposure). During the workshop a theoretical part is provided as well as practical exercises on instruction manikins.
